Program Modules
Drawing Fundamentals
Students are introduced to concepts in creating realistic and c reative drawings focusing on the theory involving edges, shading, backgrounds, one, two and three point perspective in a variety of exercises and projects.
Storyboarding
Students learn how to take a story from script to storyboard, with particular emphasis paid to story stru cture and the development of character personalities. Critical review of film and video projects, including animation, music videos and television advertising, will be used to better help the students understand how to "tell a story" and effectively communicate a message. Storyboarding will include key frames, backgrounds, character development and expression.
Classical Animation
Students learn how to create animation drawings using techniques such as stretch and squash, arcs, and paths of action.
Character Animation
Students learn how to create realistic, fluid motion in a visual environment through effective use of body language,movement, posing and facial expression.
Interactive Multimedia Authoring
Students learn introductory through advanced levels of interactive authoring using Adobe Flash. The students complete several projects showcasing 2D animation, and finally build a complete game suitable for web deployment.
Basic Theory
Students will study traditional sketching and drawing techniques, 2D/3D representation and conventions; color theory, graphical layout and design principles. The course will cover basic skills needed to continue in the media programmingindustry.
Media Presentation
Students will be taught how to plan, design, build, and add graphics and multimedia effects to create high-powered digital presentations. Students will then present these projects in front of their classmates to become familiar with an audience and gain the confidence needed when presenting ideas to future employers.
Digital Imaging
The students will be introduced to layout and design principles, and they will be taught beginner through advanced levels of digital image manipulation using the Adobe Suite.
Web Design
Students are presented with a project-based introduction to the principles and techniques of web design and organization. Programs used include HTML and CSS programming and Macromedia Dreamweaver.
