Media Programing

Program Modules:

Basic Theory

Students will study traditional sketching and drawing techniques, 2D/3D representation and conventions; color theory, graphical layout and design principles. The course will cover basic skills needed to continue in the media programming industry.

Media Presentation

Students will be taught how to plan, design, build, and add graphics and multimedia effects to create high-powered digital presentations. Students will then present these projects in front of their classmates to become familiar with an audience and gain the confidence needed when presenting ideas to future employers.

Digital Imaging

The students will be introduced to layout and design principles, and they will be taught beginner through advanced levels of digital image manipulation using the Adobe Suite.

Web Design

Students are presented with a project-based introduction to the principles and techniques of web design and organization. Programs used include HTML and CSS programming and Macromedia Dreamweaver.

Programming Fundamentals

Students are introduced to basic programming concepts including variables, expressions, flow control, memory management, optimization, etc. Students will also be exposed to advanced object-oriented programming concepts. This exercise-based module will prepare students to produce full-featured programs in a variety of commonly used languages.

E-Commerce

A project-based module using database design and advanced Internet programming techniques, using Adobe Dreamweaver to add dynamic content and interactivity to a website. 

Flash Basic/Advanced

Students are introduced to levels of interactive authoring using Adobe Flash and continue to advanced levels of the program. The students complete three distinct projects that increase in complexity and difficulty. They include an animated advertisement for the web and a simple game written with Flash ActionScript.

Game Design

Students will discuss and explore topics including game concept development, documentation, storyboarding and flowcharting, gathering media assets, copyright issues, and deployment options. The students will then design and build a complete game in Flash suitable for web deployment.
